Outlook 2013 Annoying "Text Zoom" Message and White Out Delay When Scroll Button Zooming Messages

Outlook 2013 has changed the scroll button zooming feature when reading a message since Outlook 2010. When you scroll button zoom now, a "Text Zoom" message now appears, the screen washes out to near white, and you don't get your message zoom until about a second or two delay. This is VERY annoying. It is so annoying, many times I simple choose to squint and read the message without zoom. Is there ANY WAY to turn this annoying "feature" off and go back to the scroll button zoom that used to be? The old way was much quicker and so much better

I am afraid there might no way to go back the behavior in ealier version. However, we can hold on the crtl and scroll the mouse wheel for workaround.

Pressing Ctrl + mouse scroll does NOT get around this - the zoom message still appears, annoyingly.  Im with Ted on this - this new feature with its inherent delays simply sucks.

"Pressing Ctrl + mouse scroll does NOT get around this - the zoom message still appears, annoyingly.  Im with Ted on this - this new feature with its inherent delays simply sucks. "

= AGREED TOTALLY with LeighBerrell.  It sucks, as does quite a lot of the graphical poor performance of the 2013 Outlook interface, compared with the 2007 app.

As per Ted Salamon's original post, this is ONE of the most annoying hindrances to the use of standard interface zoom behaviour I have ever come across:

1.  It staggers the mind (and I would LIKE to know) as to what the development team for Outlook believed this feature would ADD to the product?  This is the scenario where NO OTHER windows app I have ever come across did this,  even the UPGRADED Office apps don't do it, and most importantly the default for all web pages is Control + Mouse wheel scroll in/out  -one of the most important benefits of the modern browser being this seamless and rapid zoom behaviour!  I mean - how much simpler can it be to LEAVE THINGS ALONE WHICH WORK WELL?  In offering upgraded products, what piece of user research indicated that users needed THIS within Outlook, but didn't want it in Excel, Word etc???

SO - if someone can ask the question please:  Development team - What caused this to be included?!

2. Please WILL you remove it at the next available fix pack?   It offers nothing, and I would not be surprised if it is a hang-over from a debug version of the code.  It is just the sort of thing a developer puts into a system at the start of the development sequence to check that the proper range of values is available for return to the graphics. It is not required to notify anyone, not even disabled or partially sighted and if it was required greying the screen background would also be completely foolish.

3. Who at Microsoft dreams up this foolishness?  -This could open up a completely new thread on user interface design methods (not the actual design, but the decision making process), to which I would be happy to offer a contribution having designed simple industrial GUI's for 20 years.

Best wishes
